Bangalore to London flight now at just 19k
The Economic Times

BANGALOREANS, who unlike Mumbaikers and Delhiites, have gained little from the rush of new flights to Europe, will enjoy some action in the skies this winter. British Airways and Air France, which check into Bangalore from October 31, have offered an introductory return fare of Rs 19,000 to London and Rs 38,000 to New York.

The rider is that tickets have to be purchased by the end of September for British Airways and October 7 for Air France, and travellers must fly out between this October 31 and next March.

British Airways and Air France are coming in with five-weekly frequencies. The English carrier has plans to turn into a daily service next summer. Sources say the offer will shake Lufthansa which has enjoyed a breezy ride in the Bangalore market without any direct competition. Incidentally, the German carrier is also increasing its services to seven weekly frequencies this winter.

Air France also has some other goodies up its sleeve. During the same period, it’s offering return tickets to Boston for Rs 38,000, Paris for Rs 25,000, Amsterdam for Rs 24,000 and Manchester for Rs 19,000. Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Detroit will be available for Rs 42,000.

The celebration does not end just at these fares. British Airways is also offering a free seat to London to members of its executive club (frequent flyer programme).

Miles equal to a free London ride will be credited to passengers buying tickets before October 31 for travel between November 1 and December 15, and return by March 31, 2006, from Mumbai, Chennai or Bangalore.
