Our finest musicians are presenting a show on the national flag on August 14
In support of the India Foundation for the Arts (IFA), Tiranga, a poetic and musical depiction of the national flag, will be made by great artistes like Javed Akhtar, Pandit Jasraj, Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Mandolin U. Srinivas, Viku Vinayakram, V. Selvaganesh and Vijay Ghate on August 14 at Gayatri Vihar, Go-Carting Gate, near Mekhri Circle, Bellary Road, Bangalore Palace, at 6.30 p.m. The venue is fully covered and seats are numbered.
Tiranga is first of its kind in the world. It is a celebration of the national flag through poetry and music. It was inaugurated by President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in New Delhi on January 31, 2003, and was performed on August 31, 2003 to celebrate the National Flag Day at the Parliament House in the presence of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, I.K. Gujral, V.P. Singh, Priyanka Gandhi and Cabinet ministers and dignitaries. It was also held in Ludhiana, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai to celebrate the National Flag Day in August 2004.
Tiranga, conceived, researched and produced by Art & Artistes, and managed by Maam Entertainment, was performed in London on January 26, 2004, at the Royal Festival Hall.
