BANGALORE: The Bangalore-Chennai morning Shatabdi Express, which was promised in the budget, has been postponed yet again.

Divisional Railway Manager Mahesh Kumar told this website’s newspaper that the rake is currently undergoing overhaul at Central Railway shed in Matunga and would be available only at the end of the month. ‘‘It should run in the first week of September,’’ he added.

The hugely popular Chennai-Mysore Shatabdi starts from Chennai at 6 AM and reaches the city at 10.45 AM and on the return journey, departs from the city at 4.20 PM.

The Railways says there was great demand for a Shatabdi from Bangalore in the morning and Chennai in the evening.

The tentative timings for this train have also been announced. It will leave Bangalore at 6 AM and Chennai at 5 PM So far, in both directions, there is no late evening train. This will enable businessmen and IT traffic to return the same day.
