BANGALORE: Work on the elevated multi-lane road project between Bangalore and Hosur, linking the the hub of software activities Electronic City, would begin in a month's time, said the Union Minister for Communications Dayanidhi Maran.

The minister said that the Centre and the state government would do their best to see that it becomes easy for everyone in Bangalore to navigate.

He was speaking at the launch function of Bangalore IT.in 2005 (till last year Bangalore IT.COM), the eighth edition, billed as Asia's largest ICMT event slated to be held here from October 26 to 29. Maran's statement on the commencement of work was based on his talk with Union Minister for Surface Transport and Highways T R Baalu.

Infrastructural problems, particularly on the traffic front, had been a major source of discomfort and irritant to the booming IT sector, which had taken up the issue with the Centre. "I know you are a little upset with infrastructure in Bangalore, particularly traffic", said Maran, which evoked a round of clapping from the audience that included many senior level IT executives, who nodded in agreement.

Maran said, "I share your concern."
