KSRTC to divert services from KBS, Kalasipalyam

Bangalore: In a move to decongest traffic in the core Majestic and Kalasipalyam areas of the City, the Karnataka State
Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has planned to divert its bus services from the Kempegowda bus station (KBS) to the MCTC terminus and from the Kalasipalyam bus stand to Shanthinagar bus terminus.

Inauguration of all government projects have been postponed for a month for Shravana in August as the Ashada Masa, which set in from July 6 is considered to be inauspicious.

The state-owned KSRTC is not an exception and it has postponed the inaugural function of its new Rs 20 crore Mysore Chrome Tanning Corporation (MCTC) terminus on Mysore Road by a month.

Some services from Mandya, Mysore, Madikeri and Kerala will be shifted to the new MCTC terminus from the existing KBS. The routes and number of buses to be shifted are being worked out. If all goes well, Chief Minister N Dharam Singh will dedicate it to the state on the Independence Day, say KSRTC authorities.

The KSRTC also plans to shift its inter-state buses from Kalasipalyam to the new Shanthinagar bus terminus in August. "Talks have been held with the BMTC to earmark bus-bays to the KSRTC for its buses bound towards Hosur," sources said.
With the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike's plan to construct a commercial complex, including a bus terminal in place of the old bus stand in Kalasipalayam, some of the KSRTC buses have to be diverted to Shanthinagar. Although the Shanthinagar bus station is not put to maximum use at present, it will become a busy hub once the KSRTC starts operations from there, sources add.
