BANGALORE: Maps and documents of the revised comprehensive draft Master Plan 2015, developed by the Bangalore Development Authority, will be displayed at Yavanika on Nrupathunga Road on Monday. It will be on display till September 12.
Nearly 1,306 sq. km. of Bangalore city metropolitan area, comprising seven city municipal council areas, one town municipal council and 387 villages, is covered by the draft action plan. Zonal maps and land use patterns under the master plan will be displayed. The State Government approved the revised draft plan earlier this month. In the master plan, the city has been divided into several zones. Instead of maintaining separate commercial and residential sites, the plan proposes to integrate the different types of structures in different zones. "The master plan seeks to develop a vertical sprawl instead of horizontal one and is flexible about the zones," said an official.
Revitalisation of older parts of town such as Cottonpet, Chikpet, Malleswaram and Shivajinagar are proposed in the plan. As most of these areas have been converted into commercial structures over the years, the plan proposes to give an initiative to any individual or organisation that plans to give up residences, hospitals and schools in the area for commercial development. An initiative being proposed to individuals to give up part of their lands for road widening is the transfer of development rights (TDR).
Under this scheme, individuals who give up part of their land can benefit from increased floor area ratio in the remaining portion of their plot as well as get benefit from 150 per cent increase of TDR given in the form of a certificate.
The master plan details and feedback forms will be available at Yavanika. They will be available on the BDA website www.bdabangalore.org, e-Pragathi kiosks in the BDA head office and Hennur-Banaswad Road shopping complex. Feedback can be emailed to the BDA at tpm@bdabangalore.org.
