They are better at Shivajinagar terminus, says commuters

BANGALORE: Commuters are happy with the facilities at the Shivajinagar Bus Station, which was renovated three years ago.

Many bus services on routes on which colleges are located start from the bus station, and many students catch buses to their institutions from there. Some of the students that The Hindu spoke to said some of the facilities are better than those at the Kempegowda Bus Station, the largest in the city. They have no complaints about the system for issue of bus passes. However, they felt the display boards indicating bus timings should also give route details as many students are new to the city.

Lakshmi, who takes a bus to work from Shivajinagar, said: "The display boards are useful, the services should run to schedule, and commuters should be persuaded to form queues as they do in Mumbai. People scrambling around is not a pretty sight, and children and the elderly are put to difficulty.''

An elderly woman, who gave her name as "Mrs. George," said she prefers to ask directions from the bus crew though there are boards giving the information. "The bus station has improved very much, and it is today much better than what it was 10 years ago, she said.

But commuters have a grouse about the approaches to the bus station and about pavements
