Traffic top priority for Commissioner

Traffic top priority for Commissioner
Deccan Herald

Deputy Commissioners of Police of Bangalore City will henceforth be answerable to the media if anything with regard to law and order situation is published.

An instruction to this effect was given by the City Police Commissioner Ajai Kumar Singh at a meeting of the higher police officials chaired by him on Friday.

The DCPs will send detailed report regarding the action taken on the issues concerned or the cause for not being able to handle sections of the media which point out the anomalies.

The report will be preceded by immediate action on the issue published by the police station concerned and details sent to the DCPs in-charge.

In a bid to check rowdy activities, the assistant commissioners of police have been directed to ensure that anti-social elements “feel inconvenient to stay in their areas”.

Traffic Panel

Mr Singh has also decided to constitute a Traffic Management Committee comprising local citizens and traffic police to deal with routine traffic problems in City. This will be a forum for the citizens to voice their concerns regarding issues like disadvantages of one-ways and so on.

The commissioner has picked out 50 active residents’ associations out of the existing 120 in Bangalore to invite them for an interactive session at his office. Grievances if any, with regard to police inefficiency or harassment will be noted during the session and action initiated after inquiring into their veracity.
