With Kannada film producers keeping mum on the defying of the three-week moratorium with respect to the release of other language films in the last couple of weeks, the exhibitors in Bangalore have decided to go ahead with the release of much-expected new Hindi film Swades on Friday.

Shahrukh Khan-starrer Swades, directed by Ashotosh Gowarikar of Lagaan fame, is hitting the silver screen simultaneously across the country on Friday, including Bangalore. The film will be released in as many as nine theatres in the city, according to the industry sources.

Meanwhile, Kannada film producers are tightlipped on their next course of action. The Producers’ Association President Basant Kumar Patil told Deccan Herald that the Association members would hold a meeting on Friday to chalk out the next course of their plan.

According to sources, most producers, who were in the forefront of the recently- held agitation, had now backtracked. In fact, many of them have agreed to drop the demand for imposing moratorium, sources added.
