One-ways: More changes on the way

One-ways: More changes on the way
New Indian Express

BANGALORE: Three days after enforcing one-ways on Residency and Richmond Roads, the traffic police are still making changes. From Wednesday, some are being contemplated around the Football Stadium while the latest rule was to bar entry onto M G Road from Residency Road via the one-way lane adjacent to Public Utility Building.

Motorists on Residency Road wishing to enter M G Road can now do so only through St Marks Road or by going around Mayo Hall. Although traffic is moving freely on the one-ways, the system has created a ‘‘blink-and-you-miss-the-turn’’ situation.

Instead of manning Convent Road to bar entry from Richmond Road to Residency Road, traffic police have found a new way to drive the point home. A metal barrier with a banner proclaiming ‘‘No entry from this side’’ blocks most of the road, making it difficult for a free flow. It was found that some residents staying on Convent Road were sneaking into the one-way as it was a short cut.

Asphalting is now under way on Richmond Road around the Football Stadium. The fear, however, remains that a lot of motorists throw the one-way rule to the winds especially after 9.30 pm.

DCP (East) M.A. Saleem told this website’s newspaper that minor changes would be made around the Football Stadium in the next few days, to aid those coming in from Koramangala. BCC would continue with the roadworks, he added.
