Workers Dance On Streets, Damage Party Office
Times of India
Bangalore: Thursday’s ‘son rise’ in the JD(S) resulted in traffic chaos in the ever-busy Seshadripuram and Anand Rao Circle during peak hours.
The police, in a bid to ease the traffic, temporarily converted Anand Rao Circle-Race Course Road-Seshadripuram into oneways till the function was over.
JD(S) party workers and supporters, who turned up in thousands, converged at the party office on Race Course Road to witness the installation of Gowda’s son and Ramanagaram MLA H.D. Kumaraswamy as the party’s state unit working president. With absolutely no space in the party office premises, supporters gathered on the road around 11 am. Crackers were burst and there were folk dance performances.
On the occasion, BJP’s defeated MLA candidates Venkatashiva Reddy and Karadi Sanganna joined JD(S). Their supporters arrived in buses, which were parked on Race Course Road further adding to the chaos. The police had a tough time manning the traffic.
The celebration went on till 2 pm. The surge of workers at the party office was such that several window panes were broken as supporters jostled for space. A few workers even broke a door to witness Kumaraswamy addressing the press.
