Pothole on KR Road

Pothole in Banashankari III Stage

MAYOR & THE HOLE STORY
Finally, BCC men will check potholes today
TIMES OF INDIA

Bangalore: If you thought with the number of pothole pictures splashing, the BCC would be laughing all the way to the bank, your’e mistaken. We caught up with the mayor P.R. Ramesh for an up close on the ‘hole’ issue.

Q: So, Mr Mayor, how serious is the threat of imposing the Rs 1,000 fine per pothole on the engineer under whose jurisdiction it falls in?

A: It is serious because it is an administrative matter. The mayor, as representative of the people, can only request officers to implement the work. I made my letter four days ago. There are potholes every year. There has been plenty of rain and activities like OFC laying, digging by BESCOM and BWSSB, chambers not completely made...

Q: To the point, has the BCC collected any fines yet?

A: On October 2, after the Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations, some of our personnel will go to the potholes whose pictures newspapers have published. We will identify the ward and see the condition of the potholes.

Q: Now, what does that mean?

A: It should actually be bad and not have been made bad by vehicular movement and rainy conditions. This time, potholes will be filled according to technical norms, some of them have been filled when wet.
All we can say is, we found these two, one in Banashankari 3rd phase, and another on K.R.Road near the Basavangudi police station. The chief engineer, south, is Chaluvaiah and can be contacted on 98455-50100.
Meanwhile, the readers have taken the intiaitive in helping TOI identify potholes. From today, we will give you the area engineer’s number for firing your fury.
