The City unit of BJP on Sunday alleged large-scale irregularities in the ongoing multi-purpose car parking complex project on K G Road by Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) and demanded immediate withdrawal of the project.

Addressing mediapersons in Bangalore, BJP City unit spokesperson S Prakash alleged that Maharaja Builders (the private partner in the project) had mooted a new proposal to get 100 per cent rights on the management of the proposed complex by paying a consolidated sum of Rs 70 lakh per year.

As per the original agreement, BMP will retain the management rights on 83 per cent, while the builder would manage 17 per cent of the proposed complex.
“There is some thing fishy in this proposal. BMP officials have colluded with the builder and are trying to sell out the entire complex, which is worth several crores,” Mr Prakash alleged.

He further alleged that the builder was “illegally” selling out commercial shops built as part of the project.

“If action is not initiated to curb these irregularities, there will be no space left for parking cars after the completion of the project,” the City BJP President Ashwathnarayan said.

Waste of money
Had BMP implemented the project on its own, it would have saved several crores of rupees. With the present Built Operate and Transfer (BOT) system, BMP is not only wasting tax-payers money but also losing prime land, Mr Ashwathnarayan said
