Arkavathi Layout work Meena's priority

Arkavathi Layout work Meena's priority

Bosky Khanna

Following the sudden swapping of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike and Bangalore Development Authority commissioners, new BDA chief Bharat Lal Meena spoke to DNA of his plans ahead. He said he would review the works, the reasons for delay and ensure that they were completed on schedule. His top priority would be the completion of Arkavathi Layout.

What will be your top priority?
I will go ahead with the works under way. My priority will be to finish the pending projects. I will speed up the works, especially those related to layouts. My top priority is to finish the work at Arkavathi Layout at the earliest as it has already been delayed for too long. Regarding the Peripheral Ring Road, the status of the project will be reviewed. I will look into the reasons why the project has been delayed and decide on what needs to be done.

What do you have to say on the national military memorial issue since the chief minister has agreed to shift the site?
I have nothing to say. The government will decide on what needs to be done. Being part of a nodal agency, we will have to follow government orders and act as per its directions.

What is the new project BDA is planning to take up?
I will think of it. The BDA will think over it and come out with an innovative project.

What is your plan for the new layouts? As BBMP commissioner, you had advocated vertical growth and public-private partnership. Do you still hold that view?
The board will formulate a policy and come out with a working plan, which will then be given to the government for comments and approval. Vertical growth and public-private partnership will surely help in the city's development.
