A NEWLY-WIDENED NIGHTMARE
Road widening is meant to reduce traffic troubles; but it’s just the opposite on Mysore Road

It’s a balancing act for bus and truck drivers on the stretch from Sirsi Circle flyover to Nayandahalli on Mysore Road.
The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had sacrificed 120 trees to widen the stretch, for which the work started a month back. But, the outcome of widening has one part of the road smooth while the other remains uneven. How much more nightmarish can it get for the drivers?
Often, passing buses and trucks have found themselves in a difficult situation, barely being able to balance on the road. On Thursday, a BMTC bus careened near the Rajarajeshwari Nagar arch, and passers-by and BMTC staff had a tough time getting it back on the road.
RAINING MISERY
The rains have added to the misery of the commuters. Vehicle wheels get stuck on the miry roads, and with BBMP showing no interest in removing the muck, even trucks are seen stuck in Nayandahalli,the road near BHEL factory and on the ring road. Commuters say it’s been this way for the last 15 days.
Residents of the area say that at least three to four vehicles get stuck on the road every day.
