Metro work over, traffic on Trinity stretch to resume

A stretch of the busy arterial MG Road that was closed for Metro work will be thrown open to vehicles from Wednesday night. Bangalore Metro authorities have told the city traffic police that ground-level work on the stretch between Trinity Circle and Queen's Statue Circle has been completed.
"The road is free for movement of vehicles," additional commissioner of police (traffic) Praveen Sood said on Tuesday. "All ground-level work, including the construction for the Metro railway station near Trinity Circle, is over. Work on the track above the ground will go on. But that will not cause any hindrance to the movement of traffic on MG Road," he said. "Metro rail authorities have said the road stretch could be opened for vehicular movement."
The stretch was closed for two months. The deadline for the work on this stretch was May 20. However, it got delayed by more than a fortnight. When the work was in progress, vehicles heading towards Old Airport Road were diverted through Brunton Road.
Sood said Metro work on the CMH Road was progressing well. He said he was hoping the road would be opened for traffic from August 15.
