Hassle-free drive between Trinity Circle-Webb's Junction

The stretch of MG Road between Webb's Junction and Trinity Circle that was blocked on March 1, due to the construction of a metro station, was thrown open to traffic on Wednesday night.

According to Praveen Sood, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), the road-level work for constructing the metro station near Trinity Circle is over. "We decided to lift the complete traffic ban on the stretch after the Bangalore Metro officials informed us that they had completed the ground-level work. The ban on traffic on Swami Vivekananda Road connecting Trinity Circle and Adarsha Junction will be lifted possibly by July 10," Sood told Deccan Herald.

The traffic woes, however, will not be over completely. Sood says that the causes for traffic restrictions are two-pronged. "Of course, travellers using Webb's Junction, Brunton Road and Ulsoor Road, etc will heave a sigh of relief. But the stretch will witness smooth flow of vehicular movement only when the ban on Swami Vivekananda Road is removed," he said.
Once this is done, all the earlier traffic arrangements will be restored, Sood said. Till then, however, Ulsoor Road, beginning at the Begum Mahal Junction, will continue to be two-way. "Ulsoor Road was converted into a two-way for those coming from the Old Madras Road. Still, we hope that it will be eased to an extent," he said.

Traffic on Brunton Road will also be reduced. It was being used for travelling towards the Old Airport Road from the Central Business District. Now, travellers need not use it as they can ply via Trinity Circle.

Although the difference is not substantial as the stretch is narrow, the relief is nonetheless noticeable, Sood concluded.
