BBMP to widen 91 roads

Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to begin the widening work on 91 roads in the City this week.

Instructions have been given especially for Tannery Road, which would see demolition of some houses and business establishment.

A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting at the BBMP on Monday where the BBMP Commissioner Bharatlal Meena directed all the zonal commissioners to clear the decks to carry out this multi-crore project.

Besides Tannery Road, other prominent roads that would be widened are two roads of Dasarahalli, Bommanahalli, Agara and Rajarajeshwarinagar. Sankey Road is also included in this project, the sources said.

Notices to be served

At the end of the five-hour-long meeting, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Commissioner instructed all the zonal officers to serve notices to the parties who would be affected.

These 91 roads are part of the ‘first phase’ of the road widening project. There will be many more roads that would come under the project.
