Metro Phase I to be complete by Sept 2012, says CM
Bangalore, March 11, DHNS:

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has stated that the first phase of the Metro Rail project is expected to be complete by September 2012.


He said this in a written reply to a question put forth by Congress MLC R V Venkatesh on Friday at the Legislative Council.

Yeddyurappa stated that the 42.3 kilometre of the first phase will be ready by September 2012 and passengers will be able to use the service by December 2012.

Further, the chief minister stated that he expects the stretch between Byappanahalli and the Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium to be available to passengers by December this year.
He also added that Reach-3 of Bangalore Metro between Yeshwantpur and Swastik will be complete by June 2011.

Lessen inconvenience

The chief minister also stated in his reply that all measures were being taken to prevent any inconvenience to passengers and the public at metro construction sites. Besides accelerating the rate of construction he said that erection of barricades, creation of single-lane traffic and road-widening had alleviated troubles of passengers and the public to an extent.
