Elders come down on flex board displays

Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: Members, cutting across party lines, in the Legislative Council on Wednesday came down heavily on the growing menace of flex boards, especially in the area around Vidhana Soudha, Legislators’ Home, Vikasa Soudha and the Karnataka High Court, prompting Chairman Veeranna Mathikatti to ask Urban Development Minister S. Suresh Kumar to take steps to remove all of them immediately.

Sensing the mood of the members, the Minister announced that the entire area would be cleared of flex boards within an hour. Admitting that it was an eyesore, he even announced that the Government would prosecute those, who spoil the beauty of the city by putting up such boards.

Members said that those spoiled the beauty of the city should be arrested.

M.C. Nanaiah (JD-S) said that citizens of Bangalore had nothing to do with the birthday, death anniversary or appointment of some politicians in whose names the boards were put up. He warned the Government that he would send people to remove them, if it failed to implement the assurance made by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa in the last session.
