The State government has banned cutouts, posters, banners in public places around Vidhana Soudha. The government will file criminal charges against the offenders.

Urban Development minister Suresh Kumar, in the Legislative Council on Wednesday, said the publicity material around Vidhana Soudha, Legislators’ Home, High Court would be removed immediately. The minister said the ban would be extended across the city in the coming days.

JD(S) leader M C Nanaiah raised the issue during the zero hour. He said the Chief Minister had assured the House to ban the publicity material around Vidhana Soudha in the previous session. However, it had not been brought into effect. He said many had put up cutouts of politicians celebrating their birthdays near the LH. Suresh Kumar said a vigilance team of city police, officers of BBMP, PWD and BDA would be constituted to check the menace of publicity materials.
