Bangalore: The Airtel Bengaluru Habba is back with the seventh edition of the 10-day festival taking off on December 11.

The Habba, organised in association with Kingfisher, will see over 1,000 international, national and State artistes across genres as diverse as art, crafts, dance, music, theatre and film, come together to celebrate the spirit of Bangalore.

This year, the festival will be hosted at venues spread across the city, including Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat, UB City, Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Ranga Shankara, Seva Sadan, Ambedkar Bhavan and Palace Grounds.

Padmini Ravi, trustee of Artistes’ Foundation For the Arts (AFFA), told presspersons here on Monday the foundation had been organising the festival since six years with an aim to create an opportunity for artistes to share a common platform with those of international repute.

Array of events
The festival, this year, will witness the Indian Art Trail, Jazz Evenings, Kala Madhyam Arts and Crafts Mela, creative writing workshops, children’s film festival, Karnataka Greats, regional theatre festival and Habba Greats Festival.

The 10-day Kala Madhyam Arts and Crafts Mela will be held at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat till December 20, while the Jazz Evenings will be held between December 11 and 13 at UB City.

The jazz events will feature performances by Dana Gillespie and The London Blues Band, Gerard Machado Network, Maarten Visser Trio, Global Unity, Interplay and Moon Arra.

The Indian Art Trail will be held across premium galleries in the city, including Gallery G, Tasveer, Apparao galleries, Mahua Gallery, Abstract Art Gallery, Renaissance Gallerie and No. 1 Shanthi Road.

The Creative Writing Workshops, organised by Jacaranda Publishing Private Limited, will see participation from national and international experts.

Three acclaimed Singaporean writers — Ng Yi Sheng, Felix Cheong and Adeline Foo — and Kiran Khalap, author, will conduct creative writing sessions in 16 schools in the city.

The Children’s Film Festival, supported by the Children’s Film Society of India, will showcase the best of films from across the world.

The Regional Theatre festival will showcase some of the best examples of theatre across India adapted into Kannada and will be held from December 14 to 18.
