BANGALORE: Praveen Sood, the additional commissioner (Traffic and security) hoped 2011 will be a traffic congestion-free year and said that it will happen only after all 30 flyovers are ready and 300 signals across the city are equipped with 160 cameras.
In a meeting with the members of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) on Wednesday, Sood said the Bangalore police will be the first in the country to adopt latest traffic technologies such as Traffic Management Centre (TMC).
He said the department is keen on making the junctions ‘police-free.’ The city has 40,000 junctions and it is a challenge to man traffic in them, he said.
