COMING: BIG CIRCLE BUSES
Outer Ring Road will see these buses operating in four circles

After the success of ‘Big 10’, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will introduce ‘Big Circle’ buses on ring roads. The ‘Big Circle’ will cover a total stretch of 77 km on the Outer Ring Road.
To increase the frequency level, the buses will be operated from four circles; Banashankari (C1), Marthahalli (C2), Hebbal (C3) and Kengeri (C4). Besides these, two traffic inspectors will be deployed at Silk Board junction, Marthahalli, Tin factory, Hebbal, Goraguntepalya, Kottigepalya and Kengeri for monitoring the traffic.
500 AND 501 TO GO
The popular 500 and 501 routes will soon be replaced by Big Circle buses.Currently, around 200 odd buses are operating in clockwise (500) and anti-clockwise (501) directions. The new low-floor buses procured under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) will gradually replace the 500 and 501 series.
BRANDING EXERCISE
BMTC chief traffic manager (operations) K S Vishwanath said, “It is a branding exercises by the Corporation. We are going to operate 200 odd Big Circle buses in coming days.”
