We’ll act against land sharks: Minister

BANGALORE: Revenue Minister G. Karunakara Reddy on Wednesday assured the Legislative Council of initiating action against land sharks who had encroached government land in and around Bangalore.

Replying to Janata Dal (S) leader M. C. Nanaiah, who expressed concern over the failure by the Government to take any action on the recommendations of the A. T. Ramaswamy Committee which detected encroachment of about 33,000 acres of government land in and around Bangalore, the Minister said: “we will take action against all land sharks, irrespective of their political and social status. Everybody is equal before law.”

Mr. Reddy said there was no question of neglecting the report of the Ramaswamy committee.
