New markets will soon come up on the sites owned by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
Bharat Lal Meena, the BBMP Commissioner, has instructed the chief engineer (markets) to obtain approvals concerned and also submit a proposal to build markets on BBMP-owned sites.
Meena made this disclosure during an inspection of the state of civic amenities and works in Majestic and adjoining areas.
The commissioner also instructed the chief engineer to prepare an action plan for the development of the existing markets and start work after getting approval.
During his visit to the bus bay in front of Sujatha talkies, he directed the engineer to demolish the wall and make way for the buses to be parked in the bus bay. Even after several months of the completion of bay, the city transport buses were finding it difficult to park the vehicles because of the wall next to the road.
He also inspected the cleaning and safety activities at the pedestrian underpass in front of Sujatha talkies.
Observing potholes on roads, the commissioner asked the zonal chief engineers to undertake work to them fill up on Tank Bund Road in Majestic area, Dr Rajkumar Road and West of Chord Road in Rajajinagar and Mahalakshmipuram Main Road.
On noting that the palike vehicles used by pourakarmikas for cleaning activities in BBMP health wards had become old, he ordered for new vehicles specially designed to transport waste.
Engineer-in-chief AK Gopalaswamy, zonal additional commissioner VP Ikkeri and chief engineer BT Ramesh were also present during Meena's visit.
