Hoardings: BBMP yet to act

Hoardings: BBMP yet to act
Bangalore, DH News Service :

Even as the city’s suburbs reel under the pressure of more and more hoardings, it is still unclear as to how long the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will persist with hoardings, whose licences have expired, along the ‘A’ and ‘B’ Zone areas under the Palike jurisdiction.

Keeping in mind the Chief Minister’s statement that hoardings are destroying the beauty of the city, the BBMP had last month proceeded with a bye-law that prohibits display of advertisements along the busiest roads in the City. But even as the dates on the renewal of licence for hoardings have expired, the advertisements are still being displayed.
According to Palike sources, it is believed that the delay in implementing the bye-law has been due to lack of co-ordination between the Joint Commissioners of eight zones. As per the division of work, the bringing down of hoardings fall into the hands of the individual Joint Commissioners for approval.
