About 30,000 IT professionals were stuck in a jam near Sagar Automobiles on Bannerghatta Road and ended up reaching office late on Thursday morning, thanks to a damaged water pipeline of BWSSB.
Employees working in Salarpuria Tech Park, ITPB, and Electronic City were mainly affected by the traffic obstruction. It was a frustrating wait for them on the flooded road as workers were busy repairing the pipeline that burst on Wednesday evening.
"Since early today, the residents of nearby areas tried to contact BBMP and BWSSB control rooms, but their calls were answered only after 8 am," said a resident of Siddapur.
Speaking to DNA, Prahlad Rao, the public relations officer of BWSSB said, "The leakage occurred in a larger pipe and while repairing it, the workers pumped the water out which led to flooding of the roads."
According to G Venkataraju, chief engineer of BWSSB, the damage had taken place due to heavy traffic on the roads in the area. The flow of vehicles from Jayadeva Hospital Road and Diary Circle was diverted to inner roads to avoid the traffic on the stretch and to do the repairing works faster.
Speaking to DNA, Sujatha Krishnan, a software professional from Wipro technologies, said that it took her two-and-a-half hours to reach the office in Electronic City against the normal travel time of one hour.
"I travel from Jayanagar to Koramangala by rickshaw and then catch a bus to the Electronic City. Today, the auto driver refused to go to Diary Circle and I took a bus from NIMHANS which took more than two hours to reach the Electronic City owing to the traffic jam," she said.
Water supply was delayed to areas such as JP Nagar, Siddapur, Audugodi, Tilak Nagar, Sutthanagunte Palya, Bharathi Layout, and Bhavani Layout on Thursday.
"However, water supply will not be delayed on Friday to these areas," said Venkataraju.

Nice article, but you should concentrate on other issues which mainly related to slums and other problems. Within last month 4 slum demolished by bbmp without any rehabilation. What next to that poor people?
