BANGALORE: Although the search operation for Abhishek’s body have been put off for four days, the Palike pourakarmikas are continuing with the desilting of drains in and around the Lingarajapuram area. “The search operation was not successful but we are continuing the desilting works with a hope that it could lead us to some clue,” said one of the pourakarmika working at the Lokesh tent road in Lingarajapuram. The BBMP had started desilting of drains as part of the search operation from Tuesday. “The desilting work is carried out regularly across the city, but since people in the vicinity dump garbage into these storm water drains; the drains overflow during heavy rain,”said Balappa Reddy, BBMP engineer. Awareness among the public about these issues would also help avoid accumulation of silt in the drains, said another BBMP official. The desilting work is expected to be completed in a day or two and we will continue with the works on a regular basis, said Balappa.
