Students vouch for a cleaner Bengaluru
DH News Service, Bangalore:
The students of Sacred Heart Girls' High School set out to 'make a difference' along with some of the civic clubs in various schools, initiated by the Children's Movement for Civic Awareness (CMCA).

On Monday afternoon the students stood outside their school gate holding placards about civic awareness and raised slogans.

Students demonstrated the need for better roads and a clean city, with more trees in their surroundings.
The placards highlighted the importance of growing trees, how it purifies the air, helps in recycling water and so on.

Nishmita, who is a volunteer at a civic awareness club said, “We want Bengaluru not Galeejuru.” Around 82 students, who had gathered in front of the school with their placards and slogans tried to sensitise the public about the issue. Sister Preethi Joseph, Principal of Sacred Heart Girls’ High School said, “The power to change the public rests on students. I whole heartedly support them and the public should respect the environment and women.”

Impact

Melissa said, an old lady approached her and asked where could she find compost bins. Another man asked her to educate and inform him on CMCA. I was happy answering their queries and thereby creating awareness among the citizens, she added.
