Rs 5,000 cr sought for road projects

The Agenda for Bangalore Infrastructure Development (ABIDe) has sought a non-lapsable two-year budgetary allocation of Rs 5,000 crore for transportation projects in Bangalore City, in addition to the expenditure of Rs 2,528 crore by Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and Rs 3,500 crore by the BBMP.


In a letter to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, ABIDe convenor and Rajyasabha MP, Rajeev Chandrashekhar said such a budgetary support was essential to realise the comprehensive blueprint for Bangalore's integrated development prepared by ABIDe and accepted by all city agencies.

ABIDe has also recommended a budgetary sanction of Rs 450 crore for a Junction-free Outer Ring Road through BDA, Rs 600 crore for utility shifting of 12 high traffic corridors through BBMP; Rs 400 crore for STRR through BMRDA; Rs 500 crore to increase the BMTC bus fleet; Rs 100 crore to boost BMTC infrastructure; Rs 10 crore for Bangalore Metropolitan Land Transport Authority (BMLTA) and Rs 700 crore for Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).
