This time BBMP proves its mettle

This time BBMP proves its mettle
DH News Service, Bangalore:
It was a quick fix by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) with only 32 hours taken for the pedestrian subway to be completed at the Nrupathunga Road junction and it proved its mettle.

Starting on Saturday night at the junction, the Palike completed the construction of the subway by Monday morning. According to BBMP officials, the traffic was not disrupted at any point after the creation of the subway.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, Dr Subramanya, the Commissioner for BBMP said that this was the sixth successful completion of such projects. “Our main target was to avoid any kind of traffic disruption along the Nruputhunga road. We have used the Magic Box element for the creation of the subway, and we still have 20 days to provide the final finish to it,” Subramanya said.

While the ‘Magic Box’ has turned out to be far from being an ideal mix for dealing with the traffic troubles of Bangalore, it might be an ideal option for pedestrian crossings.

“The basic measurements of the subway is 3.3 meters while the one at the Kaveri junction was 4.5
meters that might have caused some inconvenience,” Mr Subramanya added.

Long way

With lighting and electrical work apart from the plastering of the interiors and the setting up of the signboard yet to be finished, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike is still a long way from completing the project.
The subway still is under construction with the stairways incomplete.

Nevertheless, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has showed that they have taken the time frame set by themselves with all seriousness, at least this time round.
