DH News Service, Bangalore:
The historic Lalbagh Botanical Garden is all decked-up for the annual flower show, which will be held from Saturday till the Republic Day on January 26.

Organised jointly by the Horticulture Department and Mysore Horticulture Society, the flower show will have 350 varieties of flowers and decorative plants on display. Hundreds of flower pots were lined up at the glass house of Lal Bagh by Friday evening to make the flower show a grand success.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, the Deputy Director of Horticulture Dr M Jagadeesh said the main attraction of this year’s show will be a tableau of a globe surrounded by red flowers. This will give the formation the look of “fire.” Atop the globe will be a pigeon to convey the message of peace.

“As terrorism has become a major problem for the world, it is time to spread the message of peace. So the theme is revolving around peace in the world,” said Jagadeesh.

The show will also feature fabricated animal structures of giraffe, bison, crane and deer. Also on display will be the old fable of an intelligent crow that quenched its thirst. A Ganesha made of coconut leaves will be another amazing display item.
