IG violates traffic rule, fined

IG violates traffic rule, fined
DH News Service, Bangalore:

Some times the police get the taste of their own medicine as it happened with this senior IPS officer who was flagged down for violating the traffic rules on MG Road, and ended up paying a fine.

The officer, Bipin Gopal Krishna, IGP, State Human Rights Cell, emerged from Church Street in a private car and took a right turn towards M G Road to proceed to the Brigade Road junction, which is not allowed.

A traffic policeman stopped the officer’s car and without realising he was addressing an IPS officer, the constable asked him to pay the fine. Bipin got down from the car and approached traffic sub-inspector Govindaraju saying there was no board restricting a right turn at that point. “Should I pay fine for this,” he asked. The sub-inspector replied: “Everyone has the same complaint. Please pay the fine.”

Bipin called up someone and asked them to contact the DCP East (Traffic).

Meanwhile, an autorickshaw driver approached the sub-inspector and revealed the identity of the IPS officer. The shocked sub-inspector apologised to Bipin saying: “You need not pay the fine.”

Since a crowd had gathered around, Bipin had no other choice but to shell out the money. He quickly paid the fine and left the place.

Though reluctant, Govindaraju accepted the fine. Bipin, however, did not forget to congratulate the sub-inspector and the constable before leaving.
