Fog and drizzle leave city shivering

Fog and drizzle leave city shivering

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Bangalore: The season of fog continues. Several parts of the city experienced fog and mild drizzle on Wednesday and visibility from 5 am to 11 am dipped a bit.
Areas like Hoskote, Ulsoor and Hebbal are normally affected by fog owing to the presence of water bodies. Jayanagar, Vijayanagar and parts of South Bangalore experienced mild rain.
“The fog, cloudy weather and mild rain is because of the easterly winds in the winter. The winds blow all over Southern India. When winds are thin or there is no wind at all, fog comes up,” weather experts said.
Fog occurs when moisture gets converted into water droplets and the droplets hang in the air as particles. There will be a dip in temperature, particularly in areas close to water bodies which have heavy moisture over them. Fog occurs when temperature falls below dew point — which means temperature could be between 8 degrees celsius and 12 degrees celsius or lower.
“Temperatures are known to fall even more, but on Tuesday, it did not prove to be so low as to be cold. Fog is accompanied by cold depending on windconditions and temperature. If steady and cold winds blow, then fog turns cold,” the experts pointed out.
The city is expected to have fog and mist conditions until the winter is through particularly in the morning.

temperature has been lower this year compared to last year while the minimum temperature on average has fallen by a degree.
‘As easterly winds blow stronger, the cold goes up. This January is colder than last, but the difference is about a degree or so.
The maximum temperature is also lesser this year compared to last time.”
