COLD SPELL: The sudden change in weather in Bangalore has left people struggling to keep themselves warm FILE PIC
It's time for Bangaloreans to take extra care of themselves to stay fit as there is a sudden change in weather.

Fluctuating weather has been attributed to troughs of low pressure at sea level along Tamil Nadu coast. The temperature has come down to 17 degrees Celsius and it may drop to 14 degrees Celsius in another three days. There will be cloudy weather and light showers in the next couple of days. The winds, which have also brought in copious moisture, will add to the chill factor, according to the Met department.

Low pressure

"Cloudy weather on a day that should have clear sky is due to low pressure in Tamil Nadu coast. The city will be much cooler than usual and will experience light shower," said CDR Reddy, duty officer, Indian Meteorological Department, Bangalore.

According to the doctors, complaints of headache, fever, common cold, soar-throat and other infections are common during these phases.

Doc's advice

"We advise Bangaloreans to take extra care of their health as climatic variation can affect them physically and even mentally," said Dr Ashok, professor, Adichunchangiri Institute of Medical sciences.

"We need to modify our lifestyle according to the weather changes. They should wear warm clothing and eat the right food," added Dr K Ashok.

Preventive steps
>>Avoid using nylon or synthetic materials
>>Use cotton and linen clothes
>>Eat fresh cooked food
>>Drink boiled water
>>Avoid junk foods

Commuters wear jackets to combat the cold.
