A plane carrying six Pakistani crew members made a brief stop at the Benguluru International Airport (BIAL) in the wee hours of Friday.
The Deccan Aviation Private Ltd (Sri Lanka) flight that was on its way from Colombo to Karachi made an unsheduled stop at BIAL for re-fueling. There was intense drama outside the airport after news spread that a plane with Pakistanis on board had landed.
However, officials denied there was any confusion. “We were aware of the plane’s arrival as we had prior information. Moreover, the plane had stopped for re-fuelling and when re-fuelling is done, nobody gets out of the aircraft,” BIAL officials said.
The plane landed on Indian soil at 3:40 am on Friday and left for Karachi at 5:25 am after it was re-fueled under strong security cover. Not a single crew member was allowed to get out of the plane. The officials also reiterated that there was absolutely no need to panic as they had prior information of the plane’s arrival.
