BANGALORE: Under fire from all quarters, the state government has decided to skip the Bengalooru Habba - a festival of the city’s elite for the time being citing security concerns.
Though the state government has said that the decision to postpone the Habba was taken against the backdrop of recent terror attacks, it was the criticism from all quarters, including the media, that forced the former to defer the 18-day festival.
This apart, the Cabinet, which met here on Thursday, also decided not to allow any big events or gatherings in the city till January 15, following threats of terror attacks in major cities in the country. “The Cabinet has directed the officials concerned not to permit any big event in the city till mid-January,” Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Shobha Karandlaje, who briefed the media on Cabinet decisions, said.
