Dog runs amok in Blore, bites eight
DH News Service,Bangalore:
The Citys stray dog menace resurfaced dramatically on Sunday evening, as a canine ran amok biting five children and three adults at Vidyaranyapuras Sapthagiri Layout.

The dog, whose attack brought back memories of a similar episode at Chandra Layout six months ago, was later killed by local residents.

Four-year-old Jeevan, Manjunath (5), Hema Prashanth (8), Sujatha (14) and Shwetha (13) were the victims of the dog. Guniya (25), Sudhir Venugopal (35) and Hema Bai (40) were also not spared by the canine. They were all later administered anti-rabies injections.

The dog’s wild run began on Sunday evening and ended on Monday morning. Eventually, Hema Prashanth's father Sarvana, who works at a drycleaning shop, killed the dog with the help of local residents.
A relieved Sarvana said: “Both my children—Jeevan and Hema Prashanth—were bitten by the dog. We chose to kill the dog to save others from its deadly bite.” Sarvana had already spent Rs 600 on the injections, a big sum for him. “I cannot afford to pay more.”

Narendra, a resident of the area, said the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had been informed about the dog menace but no action was taken.

However, the BBMP personnel visited the spot after the stray dog was killed, and three other canines were captured.

“There are still more than 15 dogs loitering in and around the layout,” he said.
