The renewable energy department has come up with this garden to popularise the use of solar power. There are 50 solar lights in the garden which can be used for 12 hours a day. The garden glows with lights when the whole area plunges into darkness during late-evening power cuts.
This park, which took almost eight months to be constructed, is planned aesthetically. The solar lights are placed at regular intervals. "They glow so brightly in the nights that it looks almost like daylight," Harshitha N, a school student, said.
"There is a lot of work that's gone into this. We built this park with the help of a local NGO and BBMP," said MLA Ne La Narendra Babu.
Due to the installation of solar lights, they save 1.15 kilowatts of energy every day.
This park was constructed at a cost of Rs 8 lakh, which includes the price of all the 40 solar fixtures. "It's built in such a beautiful manner that it's easy for the movement of water, whether it's cloudy, windy or rainy. You get light for 200 days without any use of power," Puttakempana, president of Mahalaxmi layout welfare association said.
