Despite a red alert following a terror warning, security at Bengaluru International Airport is hopelessly inadequate.
“We anticipated a high level of security, but when we entered the terminal we found four Black Cat commandos who looked very vulnerable. No frisking was being carried out and anyone could have sneaked in a weapon,” said a passenger who took an afternoon flight to Delhi on Friday. “Outside, the Karnataka State Rese rve Police personnel were waving passengers on without bothering to check their baggage,” the passenger added. “There are commandos around but with the lax security people can bring in just about anything,” said a Hyderabad-bound passenger.
The Intelligence Bureau has reportedly asked the city and state police for a daily report on the security at BIA following an email threat from a terror organisation warning of fidayeen attacks at airports in New Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai.
