Underpass too narrow for heavy vehicles
DH News Service, Bangalore:
The 3X3 metre dimension underpass near Anandnagar junction has been found to be too small for big vehicles to pass through.
This apparent design flaw came to light during a surprise visit to the site by IT-BT Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu and Transport Minister R Ashok here on Thursday.
BBMP Commissioner S Subramanya told the ministers that the width of the underpass could be extended up to 6 meters for heavy vehicles.
About 200 metres away on the same road, a similar underpass would be constructed with adequate space to allow passing of all vehicles, he added.
Similarly, the underpass near Hebbal Police station was also found to be very narrow for heavy vehicles. The ministers assured to widen the roads connecting Sanjaynagar to 100 feet and V Nagenahalli road to 60 feet.
Earlier, both the ministers inspected the underpass near Contonment Railway station and said it would be completed within three months.
Magic Box mistakes
Admitting the mistakes in the so-called “Magic Boxes,” the ministers said they would rectify the mistakes and upgrade the project for early completion. They were also planning to visit every Assembly Constituency in the City once a week.
Pay and Park
BBMP has admitted that there are no takers for pay-and-park stations on 37 roads in the city. However, the ministers assured that the scheme would be implemented very soon on all the proposed roads.
