Height of magic box reduced

Height of magic box reduced
DH News Service, Bangalore:

The widespread anger over the hump on Residency Road caused due to the ‘magic box’ storm water drain, had its desired effect on Tuesday.

The civic authorities dug up the entire stretch again to reduce the height of the structure.

By Tuesday evening, the relaid drain looked a lot less cumbersome, its earlier height of 3 feet above the road level drastically reduced.

The site contractor confirmed that the adjustment required the pre-cast boxes to be laid again.

The contractor hoped the remaining work would be wrapped up in two to three days. BBMP officials, when contacted, said by Thursday, normalcy should be restored. As per the original plan, the work was to be completed by Tuesday night.

Shopkeepers, however, had a mixed reaction to the whole episode.

While one of them expressed his happiness at the repair work, others like Habeeb, who runs a mobile repair shop near the site said, the work was shoddy and it had been unnecessarily delayed.

However, traffic policemen were a more relaxed lot as the new traffic regulations had begun to work.

Satyakam, a regular commuter on the Residency Road was happy that the previous level of the road was restored, but was still sceptical about smooth ride on the road here.
