Private properties on the proposed corridor acquired
Compensation paid to owners of 70 properties
175 properties identified for Reach 3
BANGALORE: Construction work on “Namma Metro” reach 2 on the Byappanahalli-Mysore Road along the east-west corridor will soon commence with some private properties on the proposed corridor having been acquired already.
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd., (BMRCL) will begin construction work between Mysore Road Terminal and Leprosy Hospital (Magadi Road), and properties lying between the proposed terminal and Deepanjalinagar have been acquired and demolished giving way for construction of the viaduct on the stretch, said a BMRCL press release.
The press release said while compensation had been paid to nearly 70 property owners so far, construction work was expected to begin in eight months with the tender being awarded by October-end.
Tenders had been invited for the construction of three elevated metro stations on this Reach — Tollgate, Hosahalli and Vijayanagar.
Reach 3
In Reach 3 between Swastik and Yeshwanthpur under the North – South Corridor, awards have to be passed for 175 properties – 159 private and 16 public – which have been identified and notified for acquisition.
While 129 properties have been evaluated, tenders for the construction of the viaduct are under valuation by the corporation. Tenders have been floated for the construction of three elevated stations at Yeshwanthpur, Soap Factory and Mahalakshmi Layout on this Reach.
After finalising the designs for R.V. Road Terminal and Jayanagar stations in Reach 4 under North-South Corridor, BMRC has invited tenders for construction of these stations.
Tender valuation work of the bids received for construction of the viaduct in this Reach is under way.
Trial trenching for shifting of utility lines — water, sewage, power and telephone — is complete and the work of shifting the utilities will commence shortly.
As far as construction work on Reach 1 between Byappanahalli and Cricket Stadium on the East-West Corridor, BMRCL will soon commence segment launching by October-end from Trinity Circle on Mahatma Gandhi Road towards the Cricket Stadium.
Casting of 18 pillars is complete and 97 girder segments completed are ready for launching.
Out of 1,929 segments required in this Reach, 97 segments have been cast; 82 pile caps are completed as against the total requirement of 223 piers and 550 piles are completed in this Reach as against the total number of 953 piles.
On C.M.H. Road, piling work was in progress and 12 pile foundations for piers had been completed, said BMRCL.
