The green barri cades on MG Road will soon be a thing of the past.
Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited will lift the barricades on the stretch between Trinity Junction and Anil Kumble Circle in November, sources said.
Installing girders, the platform for laying tracks, will be done from October end to facilitate speedy completion of work, the sources added.
“Fixing each girder would take at least 12 days between the two viaducts. As and when the girders are placed, the barricades will be shrunk to the size of viaducts covering hardly three metres. This ensures sufficient space for movement of vehicles on MG Road,” sources said.
The MG Road stretch has a total of 54 pillars. Of which, 18 pillars are ready for the girders. By December 2009, the entire stretch will be free for movement of vehicles, said sources.
“Technical and financial evaluations are being completed for purchase of rolling stocks. By November, all financial evaluation will be completed to ensure smooth flow of work,” said the sources.
