‘Penalise violators of building bylaws’

BANGALORE: Members of the Banashankari II Stage Welfare Association have appealed to the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to penalise violators of building bylaws instead of demolishing the structures.

Association president N.K. Srikanth told presspersons here on Tuesday that most commercial buildings in the city were built in violation of building bylaws and several firms were running their business establishments in the violated portions.

The cellars of many buildings, which were meant for parking, were misused for commercial purposes, he said.

The decision to demolish the offending portion of the building, at this stage, would be against the interest of the occupants.
