Building construction: Court pulls up BBMP

The Division Bench of the High Court today granted a stay on the single judge order directing the BBMP not to interfere in the construction of a building.


The builder had got a renewal licence to build a commercial complex on a disputed property at Binnamangala.

As many as 51 sites with roads were developed illegally without seeking permission from any government agencies. However, the area has now come under the BBMP and the BBMP contends that the builder cannot take over the ‘road’.

Granting stay, the bench came down on the builders and the BBMP officials heavily.

“You are playing with the rights of the people. People are losing confidence on you. Because you have got Godfathers you think nothing can be done and the small officials will be punished for granting khatha to an illegal layout. Communicate this to the Commissioner and the Urban Secretary. It’s a mockery,” said Justice V Gopala Gowda.
