BBMP penalises two institutions for parking on pavement

BANGALORE: The Commissioner of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has ordered levying fine of Rs. 7 lakh on two institutions encroaching upon pavements in V.V. Puram on Monday.

During an inspection of Vani Vilas Road, Commissioner S. Subramanya noticed that Vasavi Vidyaniketan Institution and Metlife Insurance Company had encroached upon the pavements and used them for private vehicle parking. He directed the officials concerned to collect Rs. 2 lakh fine from Vasavi and Rs. 5 lakh from Metlife.

Mr. Subramanya also inspected various works being undertaken in areas coming under South, Bommanahalli and Rajarajeshwari zones. During the visit, he inspected the underpass work at J.P. Nagar and storm water drainage work in Puttenahalli.

BBMP Special Commissioner (Projects) K.R. Srinivas, Additional Commissioners K.R. Ramakrishna and Vedamurthy were present.
