Speed up work on projects: Yeddyurappa

Bangalore: A recent interaction Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa had with IAS officers of the Karnataka cadre serving in various Ministries at the Centre, in New Delhi has started yielding results. The Chief Minister had requested them to give a push to the efforts on some of the pending projects of the State.

A team of senior officials — Union Road Transport Secretary Brahm Dutt, chairman of the National Highways Authority of India N.Gokul Ram and others — on Monday made a presentation to Mr. Yeddyurappa on the pending projects. Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao was present.

Mr. Yeddyurappa urged them to complete the Golden Quadrilateral project in the State.

When an official referred to the resistance of farmers in acquiring land for the Bangalore-Chickballapur stretch, cost escalation and meagre allocation of funds, he promised that the Revenue Department would solve it. The farmers would be properly compensated.

The Chief Minister asked the State Resident Commissioner in New Delhi , Sudhir Krishna, and the State Government’s Special Representative in New Delhi, Subhash Bharani, to give all assistance to the Karnataka cadre officers in their efforts to get the projects in the State expedited.
