The Vayu Vajra buses of the BMTC have become a big hit with travellers especiallyinternational travellers.

The introduction of an online ticket scheme, ViaWorld.in, has only added to the popularity of the services as both the buses and the booking scheme have hit it off with all categories of passengers.

The success of the bus service can be gauged by the number of tickets being booked online.

Since May 24, 2008, about 7, 68,666 passengers have booked tickets on the the Vayu Vajra buses online.

International passengers who have reserved seats on the buses, called it a ‘world class’ facility. “It is an easy system to book tickests online. Initially, we were hesitant to take a bus. But once we boarded the bus, we found it a class apart. The journey was peaceful and comfortable. I would give eight out of 10 for this service,” said Albert Kristo.

“Vayu Vajra provides a calm and relaxed journey in the city. I booked my tickets online for this service almost 10 days ago. I never thought that the journey would be so relaxing and the bus clean with all the amenities required,” said another passenger, Cristina James.

BMTC officials are also happy and they are planning to add a few more volvo buses and new routes.

“We are getting good response for our online booking system for Vayu Vajra at ViaWorld.in. People from across the world are reserving their seats online. We have generated good revenue through our online booking system,” said the chief traffic manager, Mr Dastagir Sharieff.

Another service offered by the BMTC that has got a good response and is catching up fast among travellers is the CelCab services.

The cabs are available within a few minutes of making a call to the CelCab call centre. The price factor is what has made the services attractive. The fares are competitive. Since May 23, 2008, the CelCab service has been used by about 942 passengers exclusively to the airport.
